Mountain Kazbek is the third highest peak in Georgia and its height is 5054 meters above sea level.

Mount Kazbek is not a difficult climbing route, so you don't need rock climbing or mountaineering experience to get here.

It is located in Kazbegi Municipality, from where the Tergi river originates. Mount Kazbek route starts from Gergeti Trinity Church

Best time to visit the mount Kazbek

The best time to visit the mount Kazbek is from July to the end of September.

The peak is covered with permanent snow throughout the year. Here you will come across a lot of crevasses on the way, so it is not recommended to move without a mountaineering guide, as many people have fallen victim to the crevasses.

In September, the snow cover on the glacier reaches its minimum level and crevasses appear well, the weather is the most stable during this period, and that is why the majority of tourists choose to climb the glacier at the end of August and September.

Equipment and physical training

To climb the glacier, you will definitely need crampon, ice-axe, mountaineering belt, helmet, hiking shoes, warm clothes, waterproof and windproof clothes. After all, climbing a glacier requires physical preparation, but psychological readiness is a necessary factor.

After all, climbing to the top requires physical preparation, but psychological readiness is a necessary factor. If you don't have experience, walking in the mountains is quite difficult, both physically and psychologically.

Do not think that climbing the peak is easy. If it didn't work the first time. Don't give up, the mountain will definitely get you next time.
