The park boasts diverse fauna, with its mammal inhabitants being particularly noteworthy. Among the large predators found in the reserve are wolves, lynxes, and bears. Ungulates like deer and wild boar are the most frequently seen within the park. The park is also distinguished by its pristine deciduous and coniferous forests, as well as hiking, cycling, and horseback riding trails.
Lomismta Horseback Riding Tour
One of the notable ridges within this protected area is Lomismta, which we offer as a one-day horseback riding tour. Lomismta stands at 2182 meters and includes an alpine zone from which breathtaking views of Georgia extend in all directions.
Tour Itinerary
- Registration and Departure
- The tour begins with registration at the Borjomi-Kharagauli Protected Areas Administration.
- From there, we head to Likani, where horses and a guide (instructor) will be waiting for us.
- The guide will provide instructions and accompany us throughout the tour.
- Journey to Lomismta
- The route to Lomismta includes crossing a river and ascending serpentine paths.
- As we climb, panoramic views will begin to unfold.
- After approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes of travel, we will reach the summit of Lomismta.
- At the Summit
- At Lomismta, we will spend some time taking in the stunning views.
- This is an excellent opportunity to take memorable photographs of the beautiful landscapes.
- After enjoying the summit, we will begin our return journey.
- Return to Likani
- We will descend via the same route, heading back to Likani.
- The entire journey provides a unique chance to experience the untouched beauty of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.

Note: Fill water supplies at the start, as no water sources are available initially. Later, the trail follows a river valley where water can be replenished.
